Reflections on Remembrance

And some thoughts for preachers on Remembrance Sunday

Who was St. Martin?

St Martin of Tours is remembered for his faith, compassion, humility, and service. His feast day is on the eleventh of November.

He was a soldier who shared his cloak with a beggar, who told the emperor that he could not fight for him because he was a follower of Christ; he became a monk and then (reluctantly) a bishop.  He healed the sick, included the poor and spoke truth to power.

With St Martin as our inspiration, this website examines our remembrance culture and tradition and asks: are we remembering in the right way?
